PHYSICAL THERAPY

 

Physical Therapy helps patients regain their highest levels of functioning and mobility, and helps foster a return to independent living, whenever possible. Our Physical Therapists evaluate patients and develop individualized treatment programs.

Physical therapy services include:

  • Muscle re-education
  • Range of motion therapies
  • Modalities for pain management
  • Post-surgical orthopedic rehabilitation

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

 

Occupational Therapy assists patients in gaining the skills necessary for independence in their social and physical environments. Using a wide range of methods, Occupational Therapists adapt tasks and modify the environment to enhance each patient’s ability to function as independently as possible.

Occupational therapy services include:

  • Education and training in daily living skills such as dressing, bathing, eating and grooming
  • Sensory-motor treatments for strength, endurance, coordination and balance
  • Therapeutic activities for memory, orientation, cognitive integration and daily life skills
  • Perceptual testing and training to maximize functional abilities and safety
  • Splint fabrication for proper positioning, tone management, and edema and pain reduction
  • Prescription recommendations for adaptive equipment and specialized seating and positioning
  • Community re-integration skills to allow for independent performance at home

SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY

 

Speech-Language Therapists address the needs of patients with communication difficulty, as well as swallowing dysfunction, by designing treatment plans to address functional abilities and promote optimal interaction within the environment. Our Speech-Language Pathologists design a treatment plan relevant to each patient’s specific needs.

Speech-language therapy provides:

  • Comprehension skills for written and verbal communication, including the use of augmentative systems when necessary
  • Cognitive status, which may include memory, orientation and reasoning skills
  • Therapeutic activities for memory, orientation, cognitive integration and daily life skills
  • Oral muscle strength and functioning for speaking and swallowing
  • Swallowing skills and techniques with the use of treatments and modalities such as VitalStim

 

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care

 

We’re dedicated to preserving the dignity and individuality of every resident, and we develop a care plan for each resident that focuses on his or her abilities, while addressing the obstacles associated with the disease process.

 

Our Alzheimer's and Dementia Services include:

 

  • Personalized care and attention by caregivers with specialized training in the needs of patients with dementia
  • Understanding the patient’s past, including prior interests, hobbies, belief systems and family dynamics
  • Activities that provide a multi-sensory experience for each resident
  • Exercise and outings, based on the each resident’s interests and abilities
  • Group activities and one-on-one interaction

Long-term Care

 

In addition to short-term rehabilitation programs for patients recovering from a hospital stay, illness or injury, each of our centers offer quality, long-term, extended-stay elder care services for those individuals for whom living independently at home is no longer possible.

We provide a warm, comfortable, home-like environment where residents receive personalized care and attention. We encourage and assist residents to remain as independent as possible, and we encourage family involvement in the care of their loved one.
